What a successful day!
All-in-all we were blessed with ideal weather and a superb attendance by the general public. Once again, thanks should go to Ty Terblanche for his encouraging words and compliments for a well organised show and the unbelievable turnout of the pre-WWII vintage vehicles. We will endeavour to keep up the high standards achieved.
Various clubs were well represented, namely Volvo -, Alfa Romeo Owners - , Natal Midlands Old Car - , Deneysville Old Car - and the Vryheid Old Wheels Club. The stalwarts were again the Volvo Owners Club who have dubbed their departure to the VVCC the "Walk to Vryheid", having completed their 7th consecutive year with 23 cars being displayed this year. All club support is imperative to these charity events and all car clubs, vintage and classic alike, are invited to support the show and become an institution like the Volvo members.
To the Vintage and Classic Car fraternity who have yet to attend this event, you are encouraged to diarise the annual upcoming car show for 2015. For additional information regarding the proposed 2015 annual car show, contact our secretary - Dieter Oltmann at 082 496 3518.
Facts and figures pertaining to the 2014 Car Show:
Visitors - 2,500 +
Vehicles on display - Close on 300 (including new vehicles), 101 VVCC owned vehicles.
45 x Pre-World War II vehicles (ie Pre-1940) - (42 of which are owned by VVCC members)
4 x Model T's, 17 x Fords, 8 x Chevrolets, and many, many more.
A large number of stationary engines, vintage tractors and implements, from late 1800 single cylinder Lister's and Black Stones, to a huge 1909 Ruston Proctor and 1926 Robey industrial machines with fly wheels 6 feet in diameter.
Clubs:
Clubs were represented by the Volvo -, Alfa Romeo Owners -, Natal Midlands Old Car -, Deneysville Old Car -, and the Vryheid Old Wheels Club attending.
New Car Industry:
Thanks to the efforts of some of our members the new car industry was also well represented, with all local dealers represented with a display of their cars, trucks and tractors. These included: VW, Ford, Hyundai, GWM, KIA, Toyota, Isuzu, Chevrolet, Mercedes, Chrysler, Jeep, Nissan and John Deere.
