Outing to Talana Musuem - 17 October 2015 - "Wheels Thru Time"

Bringing History to Life.

Once again our club did ourselves proud with the participation of so many members at the show held at the picturesque grounds of Talana Museum just outside Dundee.

Our group departed from Vryheid just after 08h30 on a sunny day with a successful run other than a problem with the brakes on Arthur's Volvo about 30km out of Vryheid.   The problem was soon resolved and he now qualified for the "Noddy Badge".

Twenty vintage and classic cars were exhibited by our members and a good support came from Dundee, Newcastle and Ladysmith with their vehicles.

The show was well supported by local visitors and heritage demonstrations and talks as well as two re-enactments, namely the capture and surrender of the British troops on the farm Adelaide and the second was the capture of Winston Churchill at Colenso.

The parade of the Caledonian Pipe Band from Pietermaritzburg was most entertaining.

A procession of soldiers followed the band.

Various food stalls and refreshments were available and well supported.

Time was again calling and we proceeded back home in convoy.   En-route, just past the Buffalo River, Cassie's Model A Ford developed a "misfire" warranting a tow back home.   Of course "Noddy" changed hands and now rests with Cassie Lourens.   A very enjoyable and interesting day well shared by all.   Our thanks to Colin for taking photos.
