This year's outing was well supported by our club with 18 members and family, 17 vintage and classic cars and 3 magnificently restored stationary engines by Johan Horn and Pieter Colloty. The day started early on a crisp Saturday morning where our members arrived at the Wimpy Junction for the start of our journey to Piet Retief. A change in the Noddy Badge occurred with Andre's Jaguar developing a fuel problem. The problem was soon resolved thanks to the efforts of our fellow members with a huge push enough to get the Jaguar running again. This made for an amusing scene. Our first stop was at Paulpietersburg to check if all was well with the oldies, after which we were on our way again. Just outside Paulpietersburg Johan's Mercedes motor gave up the ghost, only to be towed back to Paulpietersburg for storage. Our thanks to Cassie Lourens for towing and accommodating two extra members in his Volvo P1800. Finally we arrived at Piet Retief and shared in a perfect winter's day. The show was fielded at the Piet Retief rugby grounds and one must say it lends itself well for this type of event. |
