Another show, another successful day! - The Annual Car Show - 11 June 2016

Unfortunately we experienced rather cool weather and attendance by the general public was duly affected.   Once again we had an unbelievable turnout of the Pre-WW11 vintage vehicles and will endeavour to keep up the high standards achieved.   Thank you Vryheid!   You have again honoured us with your support and attendance.

Various clubs were well represented, namely Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Ford Model A Club of South Africa, Vryheid Old Wheels Club, Natal Midlands Club, Old Tooter Club, Swazi Car Club, Benoni Old Car Club, the private collection of Hennie Kritzinger and the 4 x 4 Club of Vryheid.   The Volvo Owners Club, who have dubbed their departure to the VVCC Show the "Walk to Vryheid", have completed their 9th consecutive year and displayed 27 vehicles this year.   We have had an indication the Volvo Club will be supporting our 2017 car show.   Being the 10th consecutive year, they wish to bring no less than 40 vehicles, and this challenge has been extended to other car clubs!   This year we were well supported by privately owned motorcycles.   All club support is imperative to these charity events and all car clubs, vintage and classic alike, are invited to support the show and become an institution like the Volvo members.

Well done to our club members with the effort taken to exhibit vintage tractors, stationary engines and implements with specific mention going to the 1926 Robey industrial engine with a fly wheel of 6 feet in diameter.

Facts and figures pertaining to the 2016 Car Show:
Vehicles on display - Approximately 250 (including modern vehicles)
Pre-WW11 vehicles (Pre 1940) - (43 owned by VVCC members)
4 Ford Model T's (Pre1930) - it is worth noting there are 10 Model T's currently owned by VVCC members.   A notable mention should go the 1909 EMF that was on display.

Our cars are exhibited at the Fly-in - 21 May 2016

Hosted by Vryheid Wings Club.
The Vryheid Vintage Car Club was approached to support the Kobus Memorial Fly-in on 21 May.   The response was unanimous as Kobus Dicks was well-known in the business fraternity in Vryheid and also amongst many of our club members.   Certainly a privilege to be involved and share in this occasion.
Saturday dawned and a beautiful, sunny winter's day was enjoyed and shared by all.
Our club was supported by no less than 20 members with their pride and joy of the vintage, classic cars and motorcycles.   The Vryheid Wings Club certainly entertained all the spectators with their magnificient flying machines and great aerobatic manoeuvres and skills!   Our thanks to Peter de Wet on his gyro-copter for the many flips around our town of Vryheid as can be seen from the photos.  Thanks to Leon and Harvie for submitting their photos.
